About the ear wires:

Stainless steel is comfortable and tarnish resistant, but it does contain a small amount of nickel. Those with nickel allergies or sensitivities should choose another option.

Titanium is tarnish resistant and considered hypoallergenic. If you have a sensitivity to metals, titanium is your best bet.

Silver filled ear wires are a good compromise between silver plated and sterling silver wires. A thick layer of silver (either sterling or pure) is added to a core of a more economical metal. This layer is hundreds of times thicker than silver plating and lasts much longer, but is less expensive than pure sterling silver wires.

Gold filled ear wires are a good compromise between gold plated and solid gold wires. A thick layer of gold is added to a core of a more economical metal. This layer is hundreds of times thicker than gold plating and lasts much longer, but is less expensive than solid gold wires.
